WHY IS ENGLISH DIFFICULT?

Image
Hello guys, today I´m going to talk about why for some of us (latins) English is really difficult.   Why does it sometimes cause so much work? I found an English school that works with millions of students around the world and more than a million in Mexico, I checked some reasons, why learning English can be a headache for Mexicans, I will give you five of them:     1. Spanish and English, from different language families     English is not a Romance language, but it is of Germanic origin, so it has vowel sounds that we do not have. The Spanish system is made up of 5 vowels, while in English there are more than twice as many vowel sounds.     2. Verbatim translations     The world of bad translations from Spanish to English, and vice versa, seems inexhaustible. It is important to know that "once a day" does not translate as "eleven times a day" or that "I am your father" does not translate as "is f...

COFFEE AND TEACHERS

Image
COFFEE AND TEACHERS A teacher’s day starts early. There isn’t a lot of time to ease into the morning before school starts. But even if you only have a few minutes, f or most of them, the days don't start until they have a cup of coffee. The awakening of the mind from that first morning coffee is part of our routine and, generally, we tend to bless that effect. And it is that apart from the pleasure that its flavor gives us, coffee has a very specific function: to activate or reactivate us.     According to the European Food Safety Authority, there is a cause-and-effect relationship between caffeine intake and improved attention and alertness levels in short-duration, high-intensity activities. Several studies have concluded that, in controlled doses, it stimulates mental performance, and also helps us to be more awake in situations of lack of sleep, such as when driving at night or carrying out night work.     What does coffee produce ...

HOW EDUCATION HAS CHANGED OVER TIME

Image
HOW EDUCATION HAS CHANGED OVER TIME   It is known to all that education over the years has evolved and has undergone important changes, which some consider for the better and others not so much, but what is important to highlight is that there are two main factors that have revolutionized the way in which the one we understood then and now the classes: the methodology of learning and new technologies. In the past, teaching relied heavily on theory and little on practice. The way of learning was based on repetition. To study, the student mentally repeated the lesson, memorized it, and with that he already took a topic or lesson for learned. It was about “capturing” data, but without necessarily understanding or internalizing it, now education is more participatory and teaching is more advanced and practical, where teacher and student are two actors who are at the same level. The teacher is no longer imposed so much and the student has gone from being a passive object to an active on...

CHOOSING A CAREER

Image
CHOOSING A CAREER   Have you ever been in this dilemma?   The time to choose a career is a time of great uncertainty, at certain age your parents, teachers, friends and family start asking you, what are you going to study? And that question feels like an interrogation that makes you feel very awkward because sometimes you just don’t even know. The choice of your career should not be an impulsive decision to avoid the pressure of the question of others and the uncertainty that it causes. Give yourself time to get to know yourself, doubt, think and find out it will help you choose a career related to you and your interests. Choosing a career can be much more than deciding what to study. Choosing a career with a deep understanding of your personality, your tastes, your interests, your environment and your reality is to choose a life project related to you. For that you need to know yourself, discover who you are and what you like. It is not enough to look for in...

WHY DO YOU LOVE ENGLISH?

Image
Hello, hello guys, good afternoon this time I come to tell you a little about myself and what I do when I start teaching a new group.   When I get assigned to a new group, it doesn't matter what level it is, whether it is level one or an advanced level, after doing an icebreaker and I am ready to start classes more academically, the first thing I tell them is that to get to know something that it´s going to be part of your life, you have to know its background, I call it tasting a little bit the language I'm going to learn.   I always like to explain my students, why English is a language they should know, what the benefits they will have if they know the language, knowing that all the students have different reasons to learn it. I explain them a little bit of the origin of the language, why its sound is different and we have to pay attention to it, to have a good pronunciation, One of the examples that I like to do is; expose places such as their homes, those of their...
